Welcome to the official Standards website

The Standards are a local band, based in South Leeds and have been performing (on and off) for more than 20 years. Re-formed after a 10-year absence, we have played a number of gigs and the response has been excellent. We are committed to providing quality live entertainment and will continue to strive for improvement by listening to, and acting upon what the audience has to say. Originally a MOD outfit, we continue to support the MOD ideal, but have extended our musical range to new wave, ‘60s, rhythm & blues, soul and ska & the best in British guitar based music. Songs are carefully chosen to blend across the genres. Our strength lies in our ability to inject 100% energy on stage and we are always pleased to see audiences dancing and becoming involved.

You will hopefully have seen us in action by now. If not, please check the Gig Guide below and come along. We intend to take photographs of our supporters at forthcoming gigs for the website, and build up a following of good people, who are out for a good time.

It’s taken a while to get to this stage and we couldn’t have done it alone. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far and feel sure that we will see you all again and again.

News

We've just heard that Gary Wainwright, our friend and great supporter of The Standards has been involved in a scooter accident with a car. He has sustained torn knee ligaments as well as hand and face injuries. We'd like to wish you all the best Gary and hope you make a speedy recovery.

Our next gig is at Holbeck WMC (details in the gig guide below). Please note that this is a ticket only gig (available from the club from 2nd May). SEE YOU THERE FOR MORE CRAZY CARRYINGS ON.....

We have 2 more Standards radio shows on Leeds Eleven 87.9FM on Weds the 7th and Weds 14th May, from 7pm to 10pm, when we'll be playing some of our favourite tracks, having a laugh and running a competiton with special Standards prizes that can't be found anywhere else.
